
Are your snacking habits halting your progress?
- Mindless snacking
- Boredom
- Mental blocks
- Cravings
- Emotions and emotional eating – both happy and sad
- Peer pressure
- Habit – movie night
- Not being prepared, ease and laziness
- End of the week just wanting to chill
- Just wanting a different taste or texture of something sweet/savoury
All the above are just some of the reasons we do it.
First and foremost, we need to ask ourselves “ARE WE HUNGRY?â€
Is it, actual hunger by what our needs versus a sense of escape or cravings.
To help decipher the difference here’s are few strategies to try:
- Eat protein – ask yourself can we eat chicken and broccoli
- Drinking water
- Go for a walk
- Mentality breathing – breath in strength – breath out weakness
- Think about your goals – your WHY
- Brush your teeth
- Don’t buy in to it
- Stock up on healthy foods – berries, carrot sticks etc
- Put the biscuits/crisps/choc out of reach so it’s a chore to get it
- Ask yourself how will that food serve me – eat to fuel your body
- Think about that feel good factor being healthy gives us, skin sleep etc are all improved
- Log your foods in my fitness pal or in a journal etc and take onus for them
